David Charles Fogarty (‘68 DDS, ‘73 MD)
David Charles Fogarty was born in Waterbury, Conn., but grew up in Morgantown, W.Va. He graduated from the West Virginia School of Dentistry in 1968 and the School of Medicine in 1973. He completed his residency at Stanford University in California.
While a first-year resident at Stanford, Dr. Fogarty had the opportunity to go on an International Plastic Surgery (Interplast) trip. Interplast is an all-volunteer program where physicians perform free surgery repairing facial, hand or other deformities and burn scars of patients in Third World nations.
Dr. Fogarty and his colleagues also educated medical professionals from these developing countries in reconstructive surgery techniques and are generally good-will ambassadors, demonstrating what can be achieved through international cooperation and understanding. Performing more than 1,500 surgeries annually, Interplast and its volunteers have received the nation’s highest recognition for national or international humanitarianism, the President’s Citation Award.
Dr. Fogarty has performed plastic and reconstructive surgery in a Morgantown private practice for nine years. He is a member of Health Right, the Monongalia County Medical and Dental Societies, the American Society of Plastic and Reconstructive Surgeons and the American College of Surgeons.
