The Launch of Vantage Ventures

This Friday, our John Chambers College of Business and Economics is launching their latest project—Vantage Ventures!
In partnership with WVU Alumnus John Chambers, WVU schools and colleges, the WVU Alumni Association, and entities from across the state, Vantage Ventures aims to build companies that accelerate economic opportunities for every West Virginian.

Led by WVU Alumna and entrepreneur Sarah Biller, Vantage Ventures is singularly focused on overcoming the stall points that sit between a world changing idea and scale. The goal is to provide individuals—from academics and entrepreneurs to the innovation arms of large companies—a systematic and repeatable process to transform their ideas into scalable businesses. Sarah and her team will take experienced, time-tested approaches and combine them with committed industry partners, mentors, talent and venture capital to bringing ideas to market.

Our role in this effort is to find WVU Alumni who wish to be part of this exciting venture. The Mountaineer Alliance Business Network we’ve been building over the last few years will play a vital role in advising new entrepreneurs, investing in new WV startups, and bringing talent and ideas to the table. If you’re thinking about expanding your business into West Virginia, now is the time!

If you wish to participate, please log on to WVU Connect, then navigate to the Groups page and join the Mountaineer Alliance group. We’ll be holding Alliance events in Houston, Charlotte, Columbus, NYC, Boston, Pittsburgh, and Washington D.C. this year, so keep your eyes out for the announcements. If you’d like to hold a Mountaineer Alliance Business Networking event in your area shoot me a note and we’ll help you get it organized!

The next time you’re in Morgantown, be sure to visit Vantage Point, the headquarters for Vantage Ventures at 2156 University Avenue. I assure you that you’ll be impressed!

Have a great week and help us root on the Mountaineers to a victory over Texas this weekend!

Let’s Go!
