From Down the Hall: December 2021

When 2021 began, we all hoped it would be much better than the year prior—if you're like me, taking a step back to reflect on the last twelve months is a gratifying experience. There's plenty for us to be thankful for as Mountaineers, no matter where in the world you may be.

This year, we had fans cheering on the football team in Milan Puskar Stadium again. The Alumni Association welcomed graduates and friends from around the country back home to the Erickson Alumni Center for our annual Marmaduke Dent Benefit. Students returned to campus for classes in person and our alumni groups connected with new people. All of the things that we may have taken for granted in years past seemed a bit sweeter this year. I hope that you feel the same as you sit back and reflect on your 2021.

As we look forward to 2022, I hope that the momentum and resilience from 2021 carries on. This coming year will be one of the most exciting for the WVU Alumni Association and the over 200,000 Mountaineers we serve. Like many others, we’ve transformed and adapted for the better. With our recent realignment with West Virginia University, our goals of improving the lives of our alumni while supporting the interests of our alma mater remain at the forefront of our mission and are more attainable than before. We will continue to adapt, just as you have this year, to ensure that your connection to WVU extends beyond Morgantown.

I am deeply thankful for the alumni and friends of WVU who have continued to support the WVU Alumni Association in meaningful ways. For those who have stayed engaged through membership, purchased a brick, visited us at the Erickson, made a personal contribution, or volunteered your time, I am deeply grateful for the support you have shown us through the past 12 months.

Happy Holidays, Mountaineers! Let's go first in 2022.

Let's Go!
