What is the Tower Society?
In celebration of the 10 year of the Erickson Alumni Center, The WVU Alumni Association
is establishing a Major Gift Initiative entitled The Tower Society. The generosity
of this society will provide funding to retire the debt of the building and establish
a fund to sustain and upgrade the building on a project basis.
The Tower Society is being established in recognition of the Bell Tower. The Bell
Tower, as the recognizable icon of the Erickson Alumni Center, plays “Hail West
Virginia” and “Country Roads”, ringing familiar tunes across Morgantown. The minimum
amount to belong to the Tower Society is a one time gift of $50,000.

The History of the Erickson Alumni Center
The Erickson Alumni Center opened its doors in October of 2008 and for the past decade,
has served as the “home away from home” for the alumni and friends of WVU. Charles
and Laurie Erickson recognized the importance of having a gathering place for alumni
when returning to campus, a facility that would represent all that WVU is and will
become. Their vision was to transform the Alumni Center into a museum where visitors
can see the impact of WVU alumni and become educated about the University’s long
history. From the wall that honors members of our Academy of Distinguished Alumni
to the Nutting Gallery, where intricate art collections are displayed, our facility
is well on its way to accomplishing that goal.
The Erickson Alumni Center is the Landmark Building for West Virginia University.
It has been the site of many educational conferences, alumni association events,
university wide meetings, functions, state and community gatherings. This
Facility truly represents West Virginia University and our 220,000 Alumni with
class and dignity.
