First Down Cheer
A trademark tradition by WVU students, the first down cheer has spread to the rest of the fans and is heard during home football games after the announcement of a first down. Mountaineer fans raise their hands before the announcement and move their fingers while making anticipatory noise. After the announcement comes over the speakers, "first down, Mountaineers", the fans lift their arms up-and down three times, clap, and chant “W-V-U! First down!”
