Kristin Emery graduated from WVU magna cum laude in 1988 as a University Honors Scholar with a Bachelors degree in Broadcast Journalism and Minors in both English and Political Science. She was a member of Pi Beta Phi Sorority and worked as reporter/anchor for WWVU-U92 radio news. She was a member of the drumline in the Pride of West Virginia Mountaineer Marching Band and returns nearly every fall to march with the WVU Alumni Band during homecoming festivities. Kristin later earned a Certificate in Broadcast Meteorology and Geosciences at Mississippi State University in 2005. She is a native of Washington, Pennsylvania. 

Kristin started her career in radio then moved into television at stations in Ohio, Pennsylvania, West Virginia, Maryland, North Carolina and Florida as a reporter, news anchor and meteorologist. She spent the last 13 years of her career as a meteorologist in her hometown market of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, at KDKA-TV/CBS Pittsburgh.

Through the years, Kristin's weather and reporting work has been recognized with Emmy nominations and Edward R. Murrow and Associated Press Awards as part of team coverage of severe weather and news events in several states.

Kristin is a Fellow of the RIAS Berlin Commission which works to foster transatlantic relations and studies between journalists in Germany and the United States. Her work with RIAS has taken her overseas to report on Germany's reunification, the 50th anniversary of the Berlin Airlift and the formation of the European Union. In 2013, she branched into print journalism as a contributing writer for Observer Publishing in Washington, PA, and continues to write a bi-weekly column, health and medical articles, travel and feature stories for print and digital platforms.

Kristin retired in late 2025 after a 37-year career in television. She is an avid skier, golfer, scuba diver and WVU sports fan. Kristin and her husband live in Pompano Beach, Florida, and enjoy returning to Morgantown to cheer on the Mountaineers at home as well as traveling to other Big 12 venues.
