Marilyn McClure-Demers

Marilyn holds a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science degree from the Eberly College of Arts and Sciences as well as a Juris Doctorate from the WVU College of Law. She recently joined Steptoe & Johnson PLLC where she will serve as the Office Managing Member for the Columbus, Ohio office as well as serve as Assistant General Counsel to the firm. A member of the Business department, Marilyn will launch a national Outside General Counsel practice to provide strategic, trustworthy and practical legal counsel to mid-sized businesses. Prior to joining Steptoe & Johnson, she served as Vice President, Associate General Counsel at Nationwide Mutual Insurance Company, a Fortune 80 insurance and financial services company headquartered in Columbus, OH.

Marilyn has held a variety of high-level leadership roles throughout her career at two Fortune 100 companies and private law practices. She is recognized for her efforts to promote inclusion and for her mentorship and sponsorship in the legal profession and in corporate America. Marilyn believes in paying it forward and has served on a number of not-for-profit boards and professional associations.

Marilyn is a member of the Board for Lawyers Committee for Civil Rights under law created by John F Kennedy in 1963 and Co-Chair of the prestigious Tiffany Circle National Council for the American Red Cross. She is past Fellow of the Leadership Council for Legal Diversity and also the past President of the Ohio Women's Bar Association and previously served on the WVU College of Law Visiting Committee.

Marilyn is an alumna of the Beta Upsilon Chapter of Kappa Kappa Gamma. She was also the first female Summit of Mountain Honorary, West Virginia University's ranking honorary for outstanding service, leadership and performance at WVU.
