From Down the Hall: March 2025

Spring flowers in front of Mountainlair

Although it has been a cold and snowy winter in Morgantown, I promise that spring is just a few weeks away and we are very eager to see the campus begin to transform with beautiful color once again. For the WVU Alumni Association and our campus community, March also represents a time for our alumni to reconnect with the place that helped define their journey through the annual WVU Day of Giving. It’s a time to celebrate the strength of our Mountaineer spirit and to give back to the institution where we found our purpose and shaped our path forward.

Think back to those moments that defined your journey at West Virginia University; maybe it was the friendships that started in August of your freshman year and have only grown over time, the late-night study sessions in Wise Library, game days at Milan Puskar Stadium or the Coliseum, or even the first time you returned to campus after graduation. Those experiences were made possible by the strength of our Mountaineer community, one that thrives because of alumni like you.

This year, as WVU embarks on an exciting new chapter with the hiring of a new university president, we are looking forward to welcoming President Benson as he begins a new chapter in the future of WVU. Leadership transitions bring fresh perspectives and renewed energy, reinforcing our commitment to academic excellence, student success, and the strong community that makes our alma mater special. As we embrace these changes, we also recognize that our support as alumni plays a crucial role in shaping WVU’s future.

If you're looking for meaningful ways to give back this spring, consider these opportunities that not only support WVU but also keep you connected, engaged, and leave a lasting legacy for years to come.

Support Student Scholarships

For those passionate about academic support and paying it forward to future and current Mountaineers, contributing to scholarship funds is one of the most powerful ways to make a difference. Many students rely on financial assistance to achieve their dreams at WVU, and your support can help them reach their full potential. Additionally, alumni chapters across the country will be raising funds for their chapter scholarships, providing direct aid to deserving students.

These are just a few of the ways you can support the WVU Alumni Association on Day of Giving. No matter how you choose to give back, your support strengthens our WVU community and ensures that future generations of Mountaineers have the same opportunities to learn, grow, and thrive. Every contribution, whether through membership, scholarships, or tributes, helps keep our traditions alive and our university strong.
