From Down the Hall: April 2025

|

Spring has arrived in Morgantown, bringing with it a spirit of growth, generosity, and service. As the season unfolds, Mountaineers everywhere are coming together to make a difference, exemplifying the values that define our incredible alumni network. This dedication was on full display during the annual WVU Day of Giving last month, when the generosity of our alumni and friends led to a record-breaking $46.2 million given, including $736,407 raised for the WVU Alumni Association! A number of these gifts will directly support chapter scholarships, providing future Mountaineers across the country with the resources they need to thrive.

Our chapters continue to raise the bar, strengthening the Mountaineer network from coast to coast. Last weekend, our dedicated alumni leaders returned to Morgantown for the Alumni Leaders Institute, an invaluable opportunity to connect, collaborate, and grow. Attendees participated in insightful discussions, shared best practices, and gained new tools to enhance alumni engagement in their communities. Their commitment ensures that the Mountaineer spirit remains strong, no matter where life takes our graduates.

Our alumni play a crucial role in supporting the next generation of Mountaineers. Through scholarship programs, mentorship opportunities, and career networking, alumni continue to open doors for students and young professionals navigating their paths beyond WVU. These efforts reinforce a powerful cycle of giving—one in which each graduating class benefits from the generosity of those who came before them and, in turn, pays it forward to those who follow.

But the impact of our alumni doesn’t end there. On May 3, the WVU Alumni Association will host its annual Alumni Day of Service, a powerful reminder that giving back extends far beyond financial contributions. Chapters across the country will come together to participate in service projects that make a real difference in their local communities. Whether volunteering at food banks, cleaning up parks, or supporting other meaningful causes, Mountaineers will once again demonstrate their passion for service and their commitment to lifting up those around them. To get involved, find your local chapter to lend a helping hand.

As we look ahead, the momentum of spring carries with it new opportunities to reconnect and celebrate our shared Mountaineer pride. This summer, alumni chapters will host a variety of signature events that bring graduates together in meaningful ways. These gatherings not only strengthen personal bonds but also foster a sense of belonging and purpose within our ever-growing community. Whether you're a recent graduate or a longtime supporter, there’s never been a better time to engage, give back, and be part of the Mountaineer story. Please check the events calendar on our website for a signature summer alumni event in your local community.

At the heart of all these efforts is the commitment to give, lead, and serve. The strength of Mountaineer Nation lies in the passion and generosity of its people. Thank you to all who continue to make a difference. Your contributions, leadership, and service ensure that WVU’s legacy of excellence will continue for generations to come.
