From Down The Hall: October 2025

The leaves have turned as crisp, cool air fills Morgantown. That can only mean one thing: Homecoming is here!

Throughout the week, campus has been buzzing with events connecting generations of Mountaineers and celebrating what makes WVU feel like home.

On Friday, we invite you to stop by the Erickson Alumni Center from noon to 4 p.m. for our Welcome Home Alumni Stop. Pick up your exclusive Homecoming pin and WVU giveaways, and take a walk down memory lane as we showcase ten decades of Monticolas, WVU’s beloved yearbook. You can also visit us at Mountaineer Friday, in front of the Mountainlair from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m., where the Alumni truck will be on hand with special Homecoming giveaways.

We’re also proud to continue the Bears & Blankets drive, supporting patients at WVU Medicine Children’s Hospital. Homecoming week has been a wonderful opportunity to keep this effort going, with donation stations at our Spirit Stops across campus, the Welcome Home Alumni Stop, Mountaineer Friday, and other campus events. Every donation helps bring comfort to children and their families and reflects the true spirit of Mountaineers giving back.

The excitement continues on Friday night as High Street comes alive for the annual Homecoming Parade, where students, community members, and alumni fill downtown Morgantown with contagious energy and Mountaineer pride. It’s one of my favorite traditions: a chance to reconnect with old friends, share some laughs (and a little candy), and celebrate everything that makes WVU so special.

Following the parade, festivities continue with the first-ever Ballin’ at Woodburn tip-off event and Student Government Association Alumni Mixer, providing ample opportunities for students and alumni to connect over their shared love for WVU.

Of course, no Homecoming is complete without game day! On Saturday, Mountaineer Nation will pack Milan Puskar Stadium, swapping gold and blue for black as we celebrate a special Coal Rush edition of the Homecoming game, honoring West Virginia’s coal mining heritage.

Prior to the game, WVU schools, colleges, and organizations will host a variety of tailgates, including reunions for groups like the College of Law and the annual Center for Black Culture and Black Alumni Association tailgate. Alumni can immerse themselves in pre-game excitement and embrace the Homecoming spirit before heading to the big game against TCU!

During halftime, we will recognize the 2025 Homecoming and Alumni Service Award honorees, whose dedication, leadership, and lifelong commitment to our alma mater continue to inspire the Mountaineer family: Dr. Clay Marsh, Narvel G. Weese Jr., Terry Jackson, Donna Hoylman Peduto, Jackie Riggleman, Brian Rohrig, and Angela Williams.

If you can’t make it to Morgantown this weekend, you can enjoy Homecoming a little closer to home by attending a game watch being hosted by one of local alumni chapters around the country. A list of scheduled game watches can be found here.

Homecoming is an incredible week of reconnecting and celebrating over our shared love for WVU. Thank you to all the alumni, students, families, and friends who have joined in the festivities and helped make this Homecoming special. Together, we keep the gold and blue shining bright, on campus and beyond.

Let’s Go!
